EMDR Therapy Intensives in Angola, Indiana
1–3 day intensive trauma therapy for
PTSD, anxiety, stress, and nervous system regulation
EMDR therapy intensives are extended, focused therapy sessions offered over 1–3 consecutive days for people who want to move through something substantial without starting over every week. Located in downtown Angola, Indiana, Mindbody Counseling & Wellness Center offers intensive trauma therapy for adults seeking deeper EMDR processing, nervous system regulation, and meaningful therapeutic movement in a concentrated format.
Your intensive actually begins before you arrive in Angola.
It starts with a thorough, intentionally designed intake process.
Jessica’s intake paperwork is not a formality — it’s part of the work. It’s designed to help us identify the roots of what you’re dealing with, not just the surface symptoms. Jessica reviews this material carefully and begins shaping a treatment plan before the first in-person meeting.
This front-loading allows us to use our time together efficiently and strategically.
When we meet, the first hour is spent solidifying the treatment focus and therapeutic plan, rather than orienting or gathering basic history.
From there, we move through EMDR reprocessing and integration naturally, with fewer interruptions along the way.
The goal is not intensity for intensity’s sake.
The goal is continuity — so your nervous system can settle, stay engaged, and move through what it’s ready to process.
Traveling to Angola for an EMDR Therapy Intensive
Mindbody Counseling & Wellness Center is located in downtown Angola, Indiana, in Steuben County — known as the Home of 101 Lakes. For clients traveling from Fort Wayne, South Bend, Ann Arbor, Toledo, Detroit, Lansing, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, or other parts of the Midwest, a 1–3 day intensive can make in-person trauma therapy more accessible than weekly long-distance travel.
Many clients choose to stay nearby during their intensive. Angola and the surrounding lake region offer hotels, inns, lake-area rentals, restaurants, quiet downtown spaces, and nearby natural settings, including Pokagon State Park on Lake James. This can create a more contained rhythm for deep therapy work: arrive, settle in, do the work, rest, integrate, and return home with support.
For more information about traveling to Angola from other parts of the Midwest, view the regional intensive page.
Scheduling an Intensive
Pre-intensive consultations are typically offered during my regular clinical week, Tuesday through Thursday. EMDR therapy intensives are scheduled separately in longer blocks, often Thursday–Saturday or Saturday–Monday, depending on availability and clinical fit.
This format can be especially helpful for clients traveling from outside the Angola area, since it allows time to arrive, settle in, complete the intensive work, rest, and return home without trying to fit deeper processing into a standard weekly schedule.
FAQs
What is an EMDR therapy intensive?
1
An EMDR therapy intensive is an extended therapy format designed to help you focus on deeper processing in a shorter period of time. Instead of meeting once a week for 55 minutes, an intensive allows for longer sessions over 1–3 days so there is more time to prepare, process, integrate, and stay with the work without stopping just as you are getting to the heart of it.
At Mindbody Counseling & Wellness Center, EMDR intensives are offered in downtown Angola, Indiana for adults who want focused trauma therapy, nervous system support, and deeper therapeutic movement in a concentrated format.
Who is a good fit for a 1–3 day therapy intensive?
2
A therapy intensive may be a good fit if you feel ready to work on something specific and want more focused time than weekly therapy can provide. Many people consider an intensive when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, reactive, shut down, anxious, or aware that something from the past is still affecting their body, relationships, emotions, or daily life.
Intensives can be especially helpful for people who are motivated, reflective, and interested in doing deeper work in a private, focused setting. Before scheduling an intensive, we will complete a consultation to make sure the format is clinically appropriate for you.
What kinds of concerns can EMDR intensives help with?
3
EMDR therapy intensives may be used to work with trauma, PTSD symptoms, anxiety, stress, emotional triggers, unresolved grief, relational wounds, chronic overwhelm, painful memories, negative beliefs, and nervous system dysregulation.
The goal is not to force a quick fix. The goal is to create enough time and support for your mind and body to begin processing what has felt unfinished, stuck, or too difficult to approach in shorter sessions.
How is an intensive different from weekly therapy?
4
Weekly therapy is often helpful for steady support, relationship-building, and ongoing growth over time. An intensive is different because it creates a longer container for focused work. Instead of opening something up and needing to stop after 55 minutes, an intensive gives us more time to prepare, process, pause, regulate, and integrate.
For some clients, this format can feel more efficient and less fragmented. It can be especially useful when you already know what you want to work on or when weekly sessions have not felt like enough time to get into the deeper layers.
Can I travel to Angola for an EMDR therapy intensive?
5
Yes. Mindbody Counseling & Wellness Center is located in downtown Angola, Indiana, in Steuben County — known as the Home of 101 Lakes. Clients may travel from Fort Wayne, South Bend, Ann Arbor, Toledo, Detroit, Lansing, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, and other parts of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.
Because intensives are offered over 1–3 days, this format can work well for clients who do not live nearby but want focused, in-person therapy without committing to weekly long-distance travel.
Where should I stay if I travel for an intensive?
6
Many clients choose to stay nearby during their intensive. Angola and the surrounding lake region offer hotels, inns, lake-area rentals, restaurants, quiet downtown spaces, and nearby natural settings, including Pokagon State Park and the Lake James area.
The intention is not to turn therapy into a vacation, but to support a more contained rhythm: arrive, settle in, do the work, rest, integrate, and return home with support.
Some clients may benefit from a single extended session, while others may choose a 2–3 day intensive depending on their goals, history, nervous system capacity, and the type of work they want to do.
The right length depends on what you are hoping to address and what feels clinically appropriate. We will discuss this together during the consultation process.
7
How many days do I need?
Is an EMDR intensive emotionally intense?
8
It can be deep work, but it should not feel rushed or forced. EMDR intensives include preparation, pacing, grounding, and regulation. The work is designed to move at a pace your nervous system can tolerate.
Intensive therapy does not mean pushing through or overwhelming yourself. It means creating enough protected time and support to approach important material carefully and intentionally.
Do I need to already be in therapy to schedule an intensive?
9
Not necessarily. Some clients come to an intensive after years of previous therapy, while others are looking for a focused place to begin. What matters most is whether the intensive format is appropriate for your needs, goals, current stability, and support system.
A consultation is required before scheduling so we can determine whether this is the right fit.
How do I know if I am ready for an EMDR intensive?
10
You may be ready if you have a specific issue, memory, pattern, or season of life you want to work through, and you feel willing to engage in deeper therapeutic work. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.
You may not be ready for an intensive if you are currently in an acute crisis, feeling unsafe, highly unstable, or needing a higher level of care. If that is the case, weekly therapy, crisis support, or another form of care may be more appropriate.
How do I schedule an EMDR therapy intensive?
11
The first step is to request a consultation. During the consultation, we will talk about what you are hoping to work on, whether an intensive is clinically appropriate, and what format may best support your goals.
If an intensive is a good fit, we will discuss scheduling, preparation, and what to expect before, during, and after your intensive.
