What Does It Mean to Be an EMDRIA Certified Therapist™?

An EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ has completed advanced requirements beyond basic EMDR training.

Certification through the EMDR International Association reflects additional clinical experience, consultation, continuing education, and professional review.

Beyond Basic EMDR Training

EMDR-trained clinicians complete foundational EMDR education.

However, EMDRIA Certification requires much more experience and professional development, including:

  • At least 50 EMDR therapy sessions

  • Experience with at least 25 clients

  • 20 additional hours of EMDR consultation

  • 12 hours of advanced EMDR continuing education

  • Recommendation from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™

  • Two additional professional recommendations

  • Ongoing renewal and continuing education

Certification is voluntary and is not required to practice EMDR. It represents an additional level of specialization and professional development.

Jessica’s EMDR Specialization

Jessica uses EMDR with approximately 90% of her clients, making it the foremost specialization in her clinical practice.

Her work centers heavily on trauma, complex trauma, developmental wounds, anxiety, and other concerns where EMDR may be clinically appropriate.

EMDRIA Certification reflects Jessica’s commitment to continued consultation, advanced training, and thoughtful application of EMDR therapy rather than simply completing foundational training.

When you see the EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ badge, it signifies that Jessica has met EMDRIA’s advanced certification standards and continues to maintain that credential through ongoing professional education.
